CHICAGO

Cubism 48x72 inches acrylic on canvas 1976

When Picasso said that Chicago was a woman of great vitality
Rubin took it to heart and created this portrait of the city
with the Biblical Eve reaching for the apple of knowledge
and the serpent representing human lust.

The artist developed this form of Cubism while still in College
employing Jean Du Buffet's space filling lines and the
curvilinear form of Cubism invented by Piet Mondrian.

Originally commissioned for The Mueller Collection of American Art
