...About MESOPOTAMIA NOW 2009 ...
MESOPOTAMIA NOW 2009 is a symposium of the history, culture and current events important to Mesopotamian Christians, Jews and non-Muslims. The very large and masterful painting "Atrocity 911" and a Biblical Exhibition by artist Marc Rubin will serve as a core to an open forum for issues paramount to the plight of Iraq's Christians and Israel. Contributions by The Oriental Institute, University of Chicago will enlighten all to the important history of the people who created civilization, law, agriculture and monotheism. We invite all interested parties and organizations to participate. It is only through American and World awareness
that the problems facing Mesopotamian Christians, NON-Muslims and Israel's Jews will be resolved.

What Is Mesopotamia Now 2008


This Symposium and Art Exhibition will embrace and unify all of the peoples who are "Mesopotamians". It has been created to serve as an informative forum for current events relating to the safety, daily needs and issues of displacement paramount to all Christians and Non-Muslims living in Iraq. This seven day event will also feature the arts, culture and histories of Christian Mesopotamians: Assyrians, Chaldeans, Syriac, Aramaen and Jewish Mesopotamians. Whether you are part of an organization which may take part in the seven day event or a person who wants to be informed about Mesopotamian Acheology, History and currents events we invite you to attend Mesopotamia Now 2008.

The intial participants are several relief organizations, Christian organizations, the Oriental Institute University of Chicago, Fine and Performing artists and current events media publications.




Venues Worth Attending


A daily schedule will be published in May outling the schedule for Films, Musical and Dance performances, Religious, Political and Current Event speakers. Additionally there will be daytime activities for children. All are invited to enjoy the historical and archeological exhibits, films and lectures. Most unique to Mesopotamia Now 2008 will be the religious history component. Topics will investigate the ties of Judaism to the Mesopotamian monotheistic worship of EL known as Elohim to Jews. There will also be a history of Christianity relative to the first Christians who were Mesopotamians. Culture then and now will include food, fashion, art and architecture.



Archeological History


The issue of land ownership and the recolecting of looted treasures from the Iraq Museum in Bagdad will be explored via current events reporting and interesting films. Of interest to the Oriental Institute is a free and open restart of archeological digs in all areas of Iraq. Archeology is the best science for defining ethnic boundaries. The Oriental Institute's Assyrian, Dr. Norman Solhkhah, is the world's foremost authority on Mesopotamian civilizations.
