Queen Esther and King Xerxes - The Miracle of the Temple Lamp
QUEEN ESTHER AND KING XERXES
acrylic on canvas, 60x60 inches, cubism

During years of servitude to the King of Persia for defeating and driving the Syrians out of Israel and Mesopotamia the king of Persia took Esther of the tribe of Dan for his wife but his evil adviser falsely accused her father of a crime for which the King issued a death penalty. When Xerxes learned of his error he issued another order, by his wife Esther's instructions, which allowed Jews to fight his army with violence to undo his previous order. Esther's uncle taught Xerxes all of the ways of faith in God and Xerxes gave many Jews positions of great importance. This event is remembered by the Holiday called Purim.
